Brookings Economic Development Corporation and Brookings Innovation Center Helping to Expand Business Services

Brookings Economic Development Corporation and Brookings Innovation Center updates staff to expand services that help businesses start and grow in the Brookings area. Brookings EDC and Innovation Center have a longstanding partnership with the shared mission of supporting businesses and innovation for the greater economy. Recently, these organizations took this relationship to the next level by aligning staff to support related endeavors.
Current Operations Director, Stephanie Mason will be promoted to Vice President of Economic Development and Operations. She will lead initiatives that help support four (4) main themes across both entities: supporting and retaining existing businesses, supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, collaboration with other economic development leaders, and attracting new businesses to the area.
Brookings EDC and Innovation Center have created a new position that will work directly with founders and business leaders to develop and lead programs that will grow the area’s economy. Matty Kerr will join the current Brookings EDC and Innovation Center as a Business Development Specialist. Kerr holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurial Studies from South Dakota State University and Master of Business Administration through Dakota Wesleyan University and comes to the team with several years of experience in helping make connections that promote community vitality through event coordination and tradition planning at SDSU.
