The Brookings community has developed a partnership with Lake Area Technical College (based in Watertown, SD) to bring technical education, workforce education and training programming to Brookings. Whether it is long or short term training, high school dual credit or online education, Lake Area Tech provides expanded technical education opportunities within the Brookings community.

The Institute of Lutheran Theology is a Christian faith community, seminary and graduate school that equips faithful pastors, teachers and lay people to effectively proclaim the gospel and serve Christ’s church throughout the world. The institute provides graduate and certificate level programs.

In addition to a wide array of books, the Brookings Public Library hosts book clubs, and numerous activities for children, teens and adults. The Hilton M Briggs Library, located on the South Dakota State University campus, is a 21st century learning and research center boasting a collection of 693,000 books and e-books.
