BROOKINGS CHAMBER AND BEDC SEEKING NOMINATIONS FOR SMALL BUSINESS AWARDS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Brookings, S.D.- The Business Resource Committee of the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce and the Brookings Economic Development Corporation are seeking nominations for the 2022 Brookings Small Business awards, as a part of National Small Business Week, May 1-7, 2022. Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:
• Innovative Small Business of the Year
• Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year
• Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year
• New Small Business of the Year – A small business started within two years from May 2, 2022.
• Community Champion of the Year – A small business that advocates for the betterment of the Brookings community. They are committed to giving of their resources and work diligently to create the best community possible.

The Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes the utmost importance of small businesses in our community. Our local entrepreneurs and small business owners create jobs, assist in economic growth, exude creativity, and are visibly dedicated to their mission and the future of the Brookings community. Their work deserves to be recognized and celebrated.

Kaitlyn Luebbert, Director of Programming and Special Events with the Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce, says “The value that our small businesses add to Brookings is tremendous. The Business Resource Committee is excited to celebrate these entrepreneurs and their establishments, but it’s up to the community to nominate our deserving businesses.”
Tim Reed, Chief Economic Development Officer of the Brookings Economic Development Corporation, commented “Small business accounts for almost half of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product. Brookings’ Economy would not grow without our small businesses. Please help us recognize these important businesses.”

Forms can be emailed to Kaitlyn@brookingschamber.org or dropped off at the Chamber office, located at 1321 6th Street. Nominations are due Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Award winners will be announced during National Small Business Week, May 1-7.
